Deepavali is one of the famous Indian festivals celebrated all over India. Deepavali means full of lights. Deepavali Celebrate victory over evil, and uplifting of spiritual darkness. The Lord Rama defeated Ravana and save his wife Sita from his custody. Deepavali celebrate in 5 days. Deepavali festival day falls on the Amavasyaa day (no moon day) of the dark half of Kartik month.

Deepavali festival of lights brings along with itself immense enthusiasm and pleasure. This year Deepavali festival celebrate on 17th October 2009. The Goddess of wealth and prosperity Lakshmi was incarnated on this day. Deepavali is a festival of celebrating the blessings bestowed on everyone by Goddess Lakshmi and Deepavali Puja is a way of commemorating the Goddess. The festival is predominated by colorful display of lights, bursting of crackers.


Five Days Celebrations

First Day - Dhanteras or Dhantrayodashi
Dhanteras falls on the thirteenth day of krishna paksha the month of Kartik. Dhanteras Festival is honour of Dhanavantri, the physician of the gods and an incarnation of Vishnu. The word "Dhan" means wealth and "Teras" means thirteen. On Dhanteras Goddess Laxmi is worshiped to provide prosperity and well being.

Second day - Narak Chaturdashi (Chhoti Deepavali)
Second day of Deepavali festival is Narak Chaturdashi. Lord Krishna killed the demon Narakasur on this day to make the mankind free from his fear. All People should taken bath with oil massage on this day.

Third day - Deepavali (Laxmi Puja)
Third day of Deepavali festival is the main festival Deepavali. People perform Lakshmi Pujan on this day. The worship of goddess Laxmi. During Laxmi Puja devotees offer puja, bhajans and sung laxmi songs. On this day decorating homes with lights, Fireworks, distributing sweets and gifts.

Fourth Day - Govardhan Puja
Fourthday of Deepavali is govardhan puja. Godvardhan Puja is worship of Lord Govardhan Parvathi Devi. Lord Krishna performed the govardhan puja to protect the people from heavy rain.

Fifth Day - Bhai Dooj
The fifth day of the Deepavali is Bhai Dooj. Bhai Dooj is hornour the brother and sister relationship. During this Bhai Dooj brothers visited sisters house on this day. Sisters distribute the sweets to his brothers. Bhai Dooj is the end of the Deepavali festival.
